Snowmen Trio

Hello Friends!

Today I put the finishing touches on this cute snowmen trio!

I have to admit this turned out totally different from how I originally planned, but I love it. When I was going through my stash, I stumbled across this frame that I thought would work perfectly, so I changed things up and framed it instead.

The stitched piece is matted with my favorite primitive black and tan homespun fabric and then mounted to the frame. I used flocked branches for the top, a bow and a snowflake for embellishments and called it a finish!

Rudolph in a Tart

Hello Friends!

Finished up another holiday tart today and I think this one might just be my favorite. The design is from one of Lizzie Kate's "Jingles" but I opted out of the words and just focused on Rudolph himself.

The stitched piece is "puffed" with some batting and then mounted to some coordinating fabric also "puffed" with some batting, and then both are mounted to the inside of the tart. I dressed up the piece with a small red jingle bell for Rudolph's collar and some snow-covered garland at the top. The hardest part of this piece was finding a red nose that was the correct size. After trying many options, I ended up pulling off one of the berries on some greenery I had in my stash. It worked perfectly!

Be Naughty, Save Santa a Trip

Hello Friends!

Quick post on my latest finish while I wait for my glue gun to heat up. This pattern from Lizzie Kate is one of my favorites to stitch every year. For this specific piece, I made it into a mounted flat ornament, using some really pretty holiday fabric I had in my stash. The stitching is edged with white fancy twist cord, and the top is embellished with some flocked greenery and a bow with a cover button center. Simple but cute finish today!

Snowman Mitten Box

Hello Friends!

Just finished up this snowman mitten box. These boxes are some of my favorites to finish each year.

I stitched up the mittens and matted them with some black and tan homespun fabric and then mounted that piece to the top of this primitive snowman box. The stitched piece is edged with some twine and embellished with a piece of garland and snowflake center.

Merry Merry Finishes

Hello Friends!

After a week or so of custom orders and finishes, I'm happy to say I got to spend the day being crafty and creative with some new finishes!

First up was this little Patchwork ornament from one of Lizzie Kate's Tiny Tidings. I changed most of the colors to make it a little more primitive and rustic looking and then mounted it some coordinating homespun fabric. I added some thin garland to the top and finished it with a red bow with a jingle bell center.

The second finish was a wooden decorative box using one of the newer Hands on Designs patterns for the holidays.

The stitched piece is matted to some pretty holiday-themed fabric and then both were mounted to the front of the box. I used some skinny snow-covered garland, a teal box followed by a red and white polka dot bow, and then a snowflake center.

And last but not least was this Merry and Bright basket. I had the perfect basket in my stash for this sized design so all I did was add some homespun fabric to the back and finish it with some larger snow-covered branches and a snowflake.

Happy November!

Happy November Friends!

The November cottage of the month is done and in the fall-themed hutch!

I pretty much substituted every color in this pattern to fit my decor. Like all other cottages of the month, it's matted to some green floral backing and mounted to the front of my standard white frame with magnets.

STITCHY DETAILS:

Pattern: Cottage of the Month - November
Designer: Country Cottage Needleworks
Cottage Of The Month November - Cross Stitch Pattern
Fabric: 28 ct tea dyed evenweave
Colors:
Classic Colorworks - Cherry Cobbler, Pea Pod,
Autumn Spice, Ye Olde Gold; Weeks - Mocha; DMC - 437, White

Today I work on taking down the Halloween decor and replacing it with more leaves, pumpkins and apples. The good thing about the transition is that it doesn't take much work. In fact, nearly all my decor from October is staying, minus the Halloween-specific pieces.

Unfortunately, the transition does include the removal of my Halloween Rules tombstone that I love so much. I will miss this piece so much until next year, but it only makes me want to finish the Christmas Rules that much more!
