Strawberry Love

I'm enjoying the last few days of my downstairs strawberry display. Before the weekend I need to switch it all out for my sunflowers and bees. It's always said to put all of your pieces away, but fun to pull out the new stuff, too!

Where Did June Go??

Hello friends!

This month is absolutely flying by! Between a little family vacation and getting our new puppy, Max, I don't even know where the time went! If you follow me on Instagram, you've already met Max, but in case you don't, here's a few photos I managed to grab when he sat still for .3 seconds!

Prior to bringing Max home, and in between chasing him around the house, I was able to finish up a few more pieces for the hutch downstairs -- just in time to take it all down and switch it out with patriotic decor.

I stitched and finished the June Cottage by Country Cottage Needleworks, but without the "June" title because I wanted to be able to keep this out for longer than just June. It has ladybugs and strawberries though so it was a must for the hutch. It's a pretty simple mounted flat finish in a frame using the same fabric and ribbons as most of the other pieces that surround it.

For the tiered tray in the kitchen, I stitched up another one of the seed packets from Stitching with the Housewives and finished it like Priscilla did with the model. It's mounted on one of those gingham blocks from Michaels. I had previously finished Daisy Seeds in the same way, so I thought they'd look cute on the same tray together.

On the top of the hutch, I switched out my Bunny Bakery finish with "Beeline" by Country Cottage Needleworks.

Because it's not the same exact size, I had to make the mounted fabric behind it a little larger than the stitched piece, and then I added a bow in the center to fill in the gap. The enamel tin that it's magnetized to is in the enamel section of Hobby Lobby. They have two sizes: one says Flour and one says Sugar.

To finish up with the strawberry theme, I added a small finish of "Garden Love", one of the freebies that comes with the Stitching with the Housewives patterns. I opted to stitch it on taupe lugana instead of black, and then just swapped out the colors to match all of my other strawberry finishes.

This quick finish is just matted with buffalo check fabric and mounted to the front of this small black sign I found at Hobby Lobby in the spring section. It sits next to a galvanized watering can full of summer flowers.

Strawberries and Cream

Happy Friday, friends!

I just love pulling out my finished "Strawberries and Cream" piece from Stitchrovia every year. This piece is still one of my favorites that I've stitched. It's a lot of work, but totally worth it in the end!

I had finished this piece in an aqua, rustic frame I found at Joann's years ago. It's matted with some really pretty strawberry red quilting fabric, and edged with handmade cording. I added another layer of handmade cording between the quilting fabric and the frame as well just to make it pop. All four corners have a wooden leaf with a small rosette in the center.

In addition to this piece, this year I added "Berry Buzz" from Misty over at Luminous Fiber Arts to my upstairs red, white and teal-themed vignette. I stitched this on 32 ct Taupe Lugana and used Caribbean Waters from Classic Colorworks for the aqua instead of the darker called-for blue. It's mounted on some black and white gingham fabric and attached with magnets to this wooden block I found at Michaels. I like to use this block for a lot of my smaller pieces in this tiered tray.

Both of these pieces coordinate with last year's "Berry" finish by Lizzie Kate. I love pulling that piece out every year, too!

Berry Sweet

It's strawberry season, friends! I was so glad to take the rest of my spring decor down this week, and start putting up my strawberries, ladybugs and bees. I usually will keep this theme going until the the end of June where I switch it all up to patriotic decor.

This "Berry Sweet" pattern is from Cherry Hill Stitchery, and I stitched it on Taupe Lugana using the called-for threads. I looked for weeks to find something to fully finish this piece on, but I really haven't found anything I'm in love with, so for now I temporarily put the piece on a green frame I had in my stash. Then I just added some greenery and a bow with a daisy center. The large ladybug is from Hobby Lobby and I have her just propped up on the piece. I absolutely love her!
