Stitching Bee

Hello Friends!

The second this "Stitching Bee" pattern by Little House Needleworks was released I knew I just had to stitch it. I absolutely love it!

This piece was stitched on 32 ct Taupe lugana using DMC 729, 3371, 731 and white. I finished it as a mounted easel using tan and brown homespun fabric to give it a primitive look. I made some cording from gold floss and then accented the piece with olive green and tan and black polka dot ribbons before attaching a small white flower to the center.

Hip Hop

Hello Friends!

"Hip Hop" by Hands on Design has been finished!

I stitched this adorable pattern on 28 ct black Jobelan using DMC 3854, 598, 581,760 and white. Its finished as a "fancy flat" piece complete with black and white gingham (of course!) and accented with aqua fabric, white ric rac and some bows and coverbutton. I also made some cording with 3854 and edged all sides of the piece to bring out a little bit of that creamsicle color in the pattern.

Such a cute pattern and such a fun, quick stitch!

Spring Finishes

Hello Friends!

This morning I've been working on putting finishing touches on some of my latest stitches.

I started with this bright and cheery pattern from Jardin Prive called "Fraicheur Printaniere". I stitched it up on some 32 ct Platinum Lugana and used DMC 597, 580, 3853 and 729 for colors. The wooden bucket was a Michael's find awhile back and I loved the mint green-washed effect it had. I mounted the piece to the front and edged it with some cording before adding bows.

The second finish is a Prairie Schooler that's been laying around for some time while I tried to figure out a finish. I found this wooden spatula (?) at a local thrift shop and thought it was perfect! I mounted the stitched piece directly to the spoon, edged it with cording and added a bow.

Here a Chicken, There a Chicken

Hello Friends!

Today I finished this little chicken piece similar to how I finished my Dancing Beeline.

The pattern is "Wee Chicken" by Heart in Hand and is a pretty quick and easy stitch.

The piece is stitched on Vintage Country Mocha lugana with DMC 304, 729, 310 and white floss. I matted it with some black and white gingham fabric and edged it with some red cording to pull out some color in the design. Both of those pieces are attached to a grey-washed wood pallet board and finished up with gingham and red ribbons.

Cock-a-Doodle-Doo

Hello Friends!

This morning while in the middle of working through my client finishing piles, I was able to fully finish my Cock-a-Doodle-Do piece by Barbara Ana Designs.

Awhile back I had finished this piece for someone else and loved it, so I immediately bought the pattern and stitched it up, finishing it very much the same way as hers.

This piece didn't have the smoothest start as I quickly found out that the fabric I had chosen was a little too light for the white rooster to show up so I actually dunked the fabric in some tea-coffee mix and kept on stitching. Luckily that did the trick!

The stitched piece is matted with some coordinating fabric and mounted to the front of this grey-washed easel with magnets (so I can switch out the design seasonally). I edged the piece with some twine and then added a bow with a star center to the corner. I absolutely love it and thank Andrea so much for enabling me!

Spring Has Spring (again)

Hello Friends!

Finished up this "Spring Has Sprung" piece by Country Cottage Needleworks as a small easel this morning. I played around with different ideas but kept coming back to the easel.

I used some aqua fabric and white ric rac, making it a "fancy" flat before I assembled the easel. And then I just edged all sides with some handmade white cording and attached a small bow with flower center to the top corner.

Life Is Beautiful

Hello Friends!

This morning I moved this mounted flat wall hanging off my finishing table. Isn't this pattern so pretty? I randomly found it at DailyCrossStitch.com and I loved it!

I'm not a huge fan of stitching on white but I felt these colors really needed a white background so I just went with it. I used DMC 471, 580, 3328, 3824 and 743.

I used this really pretty green fabric that had peachy colored flowers on it for the background and then made some cording with peach embroidery floss before adding some ribbons at the top.

I also moved some other finishes out of the studio including these pieces stitched by Katrinka and Patty.
