Down in the Valley

Hello Friends!

Another tart FFO this morning, this time from Blackbird Designs. It's feeling more summer than spring today in Phoenix, but with all of the patriotic stitching I've been doing lately, I really enjoyed stitching with these pretty springy colors.

The stitched piece has a few layers of batting to puff it up a little and then it's mounted to the inside of one of my galvanized tart ornaments. It's edged with white cording, and then I added some coordinating bows made from ribbon and a small floral button for the center.

STITCHY DETAILS:

Pattern: Down in the Valley
Designer: Blackbird Designs

Fabric: 32 ct Antique White Lugana
Colors Used: DMC 224, 738, 950, 839, 3790, 3012, 503, 504, 3722, Ecru

Freedom!

Hello Friends!

Just moved this patriotic easel finish off my table and I'm LOVING IT! I've always wanted to stitch this freebie by Barbara Ana Designs, and now that I have, I can't wait to stitch it again to put in one of my Fourth of July displays.

The freebie is from the Star Spangled Stitchers group on Facebook. I stitched it up a remnant of some 28 ct evenweave Monaco I had tea-dyed and then matted it with my favorite primitive homespun fabric before mounting both to this black easel. I added some twine around the edges and then made a bunch of bows our of coordinating ribbon before attaching the cover button to the center.

Farm Fresh!

Hello Friends!

Things are just flying off my table today and I'm feeling extremely productive!

I FFOed this Farm Fresh freebie by Hands on Design into a mounted ornament. It's so cute with the red and white gingham fabric and little cover button. Love, love, LOVE this design so much!

I kept the colors in the same ballpark, but changed up the red to Schoolhouse Red by GAST and the aqua to Cadet by Weeks. It's stitched on 32 ct platinum lugana.

I also finished this custom request for Pamela. She wanted one of my hanger tart tins but with a spring butterfly theme. I was thrilled that she loved it! The pattern is a bonus chart from Lizzie Kate that I doctored up a bit to make it butterfly-themed as requested.

Here a Peep, There a Peep

Hello Friends!

I was up until 1:00 am in the studio working on some finishing including this "Here a Peep, There a Peep" piece, trying to get some stuff off my finishing table. I actually think I may have bitten off more than I can chew this month already with Easter custom finishes, so I'm happy that even though I'm tired this morning, a few boxes have been checked off!

I stitched this piece a little while back but had to locate an oval frame that would look right. Finally, I found one (in black), so I chalk painted it and made it look old and worn, and then added a backing with a sawtooth hanger. The stitched piece is on tea-dyed fabric and is finished in a smaller oval shape (hate ovals) before being matted to some coordinating fabric inside the frame. Spring picks and a cream bow compliment the piece.
