Down in the Valley

Hello Friends!

Another tart FFO this morning, this time from Blackbird Designs. It's feeling more summer than spring today in Phoenix, but with all of the patriotic stitching I've been doing lately, I really enjoyed stitching with these pretty springy colors.

The stitched piece has a few layers of batting to puff it up a little and then it's mounted to the inside of one of my galvanized tart ornaments. It's edged with white cording, and then I added some coordinating bows made from ribbon and a small floral button for the center.

STITCHY DETAILS:

Pattern: Down in the Valley
Designer: Blackbird Designs

Fabric: 32 ct Antique White Lugana
Colors Used: DMC 224, 738, 950, 839, 3790, 3012, 503, 504, 3722, Ecru

Freedom!

Hello Friends!

Just moved this patriotic easel finish off my table and I'm LOVING IT! I've always wanted to stitch this freebie by Barbara Ana Designs, and now that I have, I can't wait to stitch it again to put in one of my Fourth of July displays.

The freebie is from the Star Spangled Stitchers group on Facebook. I stitched it up a remnant of some 28 ct evenweave Monaco I had tea-dyed and then matted it with my favorite primitive homespun fabric before mounting both to this black easel. I added some twine around the edges and then made a bunch of bows our of coordinating ribbon before attaching the cover button to the center.

Farm Fresh!

Hello Friends!

Things are just flying off my table today and I'm feeling extremely productive!

I FFOed this Farm Fresh freebie by Hands on Design into a mounted ornament. It's so cute with the red and white gingham fabric and little cover button. Love, love, LOVE this design so much!

I kept the colors in the same ballpark, but changed up the red to Schoolhouse Red by GAST and the aqua to Cadet by Weeks. It's stitched on 32 ct platinum lugana.

I also finished this custom request for Pamela. She wanted one of my hanger tart tins but with a spring butterfly theme. I was thrilled that she loved it! The pattern is a bonus chart from Lizzie Kate that I doctored up a bit to make it butterfly-themed as requested.

Oh Bee Hive

Hi Friends!

Quick post today to share this little mounted ornament using one of the patterns in the Oh Bee Hive set from Hands on Design.

I thought this pattern was so cute -- and perfect for this time of year! I stitched it up and finished it up into a mounted flat ornament, using black and tan homespun fabric, black ribbon and a small bee button. Super, super cute!

Mothers Easel (and More!)

Hello Friends!

It's been a very productive week in the studio with a variety of new items completed.

First I FFOed my "Mothers" piece into an easel. And I'm loving it!

I found this whitewashed easel at Michaels (pretty sure) and it was the perfect size for this piece, so I matted it with some green fabric and then mounted them to the front. I didn't think it looked right with any trim or cording so instead, I added color and contrast with the ribbons and cover button at the top. I may have gone overboard but I do love the colors.

I also finished up a large custom order for scissor fobs and while I was at it, I had some fun playing with beads in my stash. Here's a sampling of the fobs I created. I love them all!

Then, after working on a custom order for some gift card holders, I worked on some new patterns while I had my paper stash out in front of me. I absolutely LOVE this garden-theme one.

Then, during all of this, I worked on some custom finishing for my stitchy pal Robin. I love all of her stitching, but this set in particular is going to be hard to let go.

Here a Peep, There a Peep

Hello Friends!

I was up until 1:00 am in the studio working on some finishing including this "Here a Peep, There a Peep" piece, trying to get some stuff off my finishing table. I actually think I may have bitten off more than I can chew this month already with Easter custom finishes, so I'm happy that even though I'm tired this morning, a few boxes have been checked off!

I stitched this piece a little while back but had to locate an oval frame that would look right. Finally, I found one (in black), so I chalk painted it and made it look old and worn, and then added a backing with a sawtooth hanger. The stitched piece is on tea-dyed fabric and is finished in a smaller oval shape (hate ovals) before being matted to some coordinating fabric inside the frame. Spring picks and a cream bow compliment the piece.

Hippity Hop

Hello Friends!

Today I worked on finishing a few more springy pieces as well as some gift card holders and cards, starting with Hippity Hop by Hands on Design. It's part of the Carrots & Cottaintails Farm - Farmhouse Chalk series, and even though I'm stitching up the other two pieces on black fabric, I wanted to finish this smaller chart on some vintage country mocha.

I changed the colors (including the vine on the left that I changed from white to a green) and then decided to mount it on this chalkboard wall hanging I purchased at Michaels. The stitched piece is matted on some black and white gingham fabric and adhered to the board. Then I edged the piece with twine and added a black and white gingham bow I made with some ribbon I had in my stash, and found an orange flower for the center.  Voila! Cute springy finish.
