I Love Fall

Hello Friends!

I had an impromptu stitch and finish from Cherry Hill Stitchery this week that I ended up FFOing this morning into a basket-front. Don't you just love this pattern?

I changed most of the colors to bring in more of the greys and blues and then mounted my stitched piece to the front of a white-washed mini crate I had in my stash. I made some cording out of the oranges I used in the pattern and then added some olive green ribbon, a twine bow I made and two small buttons for embellishments. Absolutely love this piece!

Christmas Tree Lot

Hello Friends!

I stitched up "Tree Lot" from Little House Needleworks and finally got around to FFOing it into a white-washed plaque easel.

The stitched piece is edged with jute twine and matted with some black and tan primitive homespun fabric and mounted to the front of the easel. For embellishments, I just used some flocked tree branches and a black and red buffalo check ribbon with cover button center.

Week of Fall Finishes

Hi Friends!

This week I worked on getting some of my fall stitches FFOed as well as working my way through my To-Finish pile from other stitchers.

I started with my Autumn Whirligig tart that I finished like all of the other Whirligigs I finished this year. I made some changes to this design including changes to the color and then edged the piece with some brown and orange fancy trim.

Fabric: 28 ct tea-dyed Monaco
Colors Used: DMC 838, 930, 729, 433, 422, 3777, 730, 3826, White

Then I finished up this cute fall stitch as another one of those rustic wood ornaments I had finished a few weeks ago. This type of finish is basic and simple but I like that I got to play around with some color through cording and ribbons.

This Way to the Pumpkin Patch

I absolutely love, love, love this new pattern from Hands on Design. Cathy's patterns always seem to hit my style, and this one is no exception with the multi-colored pumpkins.

I stitched this piece all in DMC and made a few changes so that I could coordinate with the blues and grays from the rustic easel. When I went to put it all together, though, I felt like I was a little low on the orange tones, so I added some rust-colored fabric to the back of some gray/blue fabric that mats the stitched piece. Then I felt like I was a little low on green, so I made some cording out of DMC 730 and edged the piece with that before adding some ribbons and a cover button. Super cute fall piece!

Harvest and FFOs

Hello Friends!

Finished up this cute pattern from Bent Creek this morning in a primitive style. The stitched piece is matted with some terra cotta-colored fabric and then both are mounted to my black and tan homespun fabric. I edged the stitched piece with some twine and then added some jute ribbons to the top corner to finish it off. Cute fall stitch!

Finishing Frenzy

Hello Friends!

Getting a little crazy in the studio the closer we get to the holiday season, but I'm enjoying every minute!

I finished this adorable Merry Making Mini: 31 October by Heart in Hand as a small ornament. It's matted with black and tan homespun fabric and then mounted to the front of this black, rustic wood piece that hangs from a wire. I made some cording to edge the design with and then added a Halloween bow with pumpkin button center.

It's a quick, cute stitch so you still have time to get this one done before Halloween.

I finished these four pieces from Dana, and then immediately moved all four of them up in my WIP pile. We've figured out that Dana and I basically love and stitch the same exact things, so I see this happening a lot.
