Summer Whirligig 2.0

Hello Friends!

So I stitched Summer Whirligig again but this time, I finished it as a mounted tart ornament.

When I stitched the piece this time, I used 32 ct Lugana which made the pattern smaller so I'd have a little room to add some coordinating fabric. I chose a black and tan homespun check as the backing and then edged the stitched piece and the homespun with twine. Then I made a bow out of some tan straw ribbon and added a cute flower button in the center.

Happy Fourth Sheep and... Chickens?

Hello Friends!

It was a busy one in the studio yesterday as I pumped out some UFOs in desperate need of some finishing and finished up a bunch of pieces from fellow stitchers!

Since July 4th is coming up soon, I started the day finishing this whitewashed wood pallet box first. I found this box at Michaels awhile back and even though it hangs from a twine cord, I think it'd actually look cuter as a patriotic shelf-sitter.

The stitched piece is from Tiny Modernist and I changed all of the colors (see below). It's matted with faux-denim and mounted to the front of the box. Then I edged the sides with twine and made a few bows at the top before adding layered star buttons.

The next thing I moved off my table were these cute little chalkboard ornaments. I stitched them on black evenweave and then finished them exactly the same way -- with black and white gingham fabric, twine cording and coordinating bows.

Designer: Prairie Schooler
Fabric: 28 ct Black Jobelan
Colors Used: DMC 3777, 930, 3346, 729, 422, White

Lastly, I FFOed and mailed out this cute little Christmas ornament for my new stitchy friend Madeleine. I just love the tiny little beading in the tree!

Freedom Finishes

Hello Friends!

Took a small break from finishing for others to finish a couple more patriotic designs I had stitched before going on vacation.

This first FFO is probably my favorite patriotic design. I've stitched it three times now: twice for others and once for myself. I love how it looks in my patriotic display and I always look forward to putting it out. I used black and tan homespun fabric for the backing and edged the stitched piece with twine before adding a bunch of ribbons to the top with a cover button center.

One of the most asked questions I get is where to buy this pattern, and unfortunately, it's not an easy link I can add. You CAN get it by joining the Star Spangled Stitchers group on Facebook though. Its in the freebies section by Barbara Ana Designs.

The next FFO was this cute little patriotic design from Heart in Hand. I turned it into a mounted flat ornament using the same black and tan homespun fabric and then added some patriotic ribbon and a small white bow.

Beachy-Keen

Hello Friends!

This morning I worked on finishing up these two beach-themed UFOs I had in my pile since before I left on vacation.

This first FFO is Lizzie Kate's "Beach" from "Red, White and Beach." I mounted the stitched piece to some coordinating aqua fabric and then mounted them both to this white-washed wood board. I used some straw, crunchy ribbon for the bow and then topped one small cover button on top of another cover button to pull out the orange from the fish and get in some color.

Colors Used: DMC 3853, 3790, 930, 3828, 349, 581, 932, 3848, 310 and White

The second UFO was finished as an small easel. I went back and forth on the color of the easel but ultimately settled for white so that the colors in the piece pop better.

I mounted the stitched piece to some aqua fabric and then mounted both to the front of the easel. Then I made some cording out of the olive green in the pattern and added an orange bow with aqua cover button center.
