Rustic Snowman Box

Hello Friends!

I just finished up this really cute snowman decorative box using a pattern from a company I've never stitched any patterns from before -- The Woolly Ewe. I love The Woolly Ewe's designs because they have a rustic look and feel to them. Plus they are available in digital dowload which makes it really easy to stitch up while using my tablet. I'm definitely going to be stitching more from this shop. Highly recommend! Check it The Woolly Ewe's shop here: The Woolly Ewe

For this piece, I simply mounted the stitching onto some coordinating homespun fabric, and then mounted both of those to the top of this snowman box. The pattern itself is so pretty, I decided against any embellishments, bows, picks, etc. I think it can stand on its own.

Monday, Monday

Hello Friends!

Another busy one today in the studio!

The first ornament FFO is this O Come Let Us Adore Him from Country Cottage Needleworks. This pattern has always been one of my favorites for an ornament. I decided to make it a mounted flat ornament and use some really pretty Christmas homespun fabric to mount it on. The cording that edges the piece is twine because I wanted to give it a rustic feel. Then I just added some brown ribbon, a white ribbon bow and a snowflake.

Fabric: 28 ct tea-dyed evenweave
Colors: DMC 3031, 469, 815, 436, 437, White

The second ornament is part of a Country Cottage Needleworks sampler. I chose to just stitch the "Merry Christmas" and again, make it a mounted flat ornament. I had this beautiful fabric that I really thought would make the stitching pop. Then I added some white twist cord, a red ribbon, a white ribbon bow and another snowflake.

I also started making these gift card holder / mini note cards for the shop and they've been selling (mostly via custom order) like craaaaaaazy. I have a few more custom order sets to get done today, and then I hope to get some new patterns in the shop later today.

The envelope itself is 2.5 by 3 inches, perfect to hold a standard-sized gift card. I also include a flat (not folded) note card, approximately the same size with the patterned paper on one side, so that you can add your own note along with the gift card holder. You can also send this note by itself without a gift card and just use it as you would with any note card.

They're really cute. I look forward to sending my own gift cards out this way.

I also finished up some ornaments stitched by Robin. As always, I loved this set!

Fall Blackbird Tin Sign

Hello Friends!

Quick post today as it's a busy one in the studio. (I have 10 things on my "to finish" needleart table and only 12 of 75 custom order gift tags complete.)

Just finished this cute Fall Blackbird Tin Sign, similar to my Fall Owl Tin Sign  from last week.

Like the owl, this blackbird design was part of a Prairie Schooler pattern that was stitched on tea-dyed evenweave. The blackbird is mounted to some red and white homespun fabric which is mounted to this copper highlighted tin sign and it's jazzed up with some twist cord, ribbon bow with cover button center and fall picks.

Halloween Rules!

Hello Friends!

It's done! It's finally, finally done!

This has been a year-long process -- not that it took that long to stitch of course -- but the plan of action for my Halloween Rules started in October 2017.  I knew exactly how I wanted to finish mine the second I got the pattern(s), however, I had no idea finding a flat, perfectly sized tombstone would be so incredibly hard. Believe me when I tell you I went EVERYWHERE, including all crafty stores, all Halloween stores, home decor stores, you name it, to find this **** tombstone. In fact, I had almost given up hope completely when one just popped up at Joann's a few weeks after I started my search. I have not seen it since, so I consider myself extremely lucky for finding it when I did. AND IT EVEN HAS BUILT-IN LIGHTS!!!

By the time I found the tombstone it was almost Halloween and clearly not enough time for me to stitch this up and get all of my other stitching done. So it's sat, lonely, in my art studio until I was able to piece it all together today.

I stitched all charts of Halloween Rules except for the last pattern (two charts) at the bottom. The tombstone wasn't long enough to include them, and seeing as though I wasn't super enthusiastic about those two charts anyway, so I don't really mind that they're missing. The stitched piece is mounted to some homespun and edged with black twist cord. The hardest part -- at least for me because I tend to be very OCD with this stuff -- was getting the arc at the top just right. I tried multiple things before just eyeballing it --- but I swear to you the process took years off my life.

I found this super cute felt pom pom Halloween garland at Home Goods so I kind of draped that around the back and sides, and then I made a Halloween ribbon bow for the top and bottom. I found the glittery bats at the Dollar Tree and since they have a metal clip on the back, I was able to glue teeny, tiny magnets onto the tombstone to stick them on. I may change them if something cuter pops up.

The strange thing is that Spike is very attached to the tombstone. I don't know if it's the size of it or what, but he is constantly sitting next to it. Just to take these photos I had to physically move him multiple times. I know all dog owners will tell you their dogs do weird things but --- kinda odd, right?

Autumn Celebration Shelf Sitter

Hello Friends!

Today I finished this Autumn Celebration shelf sitter!

The pattern is Autumn Seasonal Celebrations from Country Cottage Needleworks. There are four seasons available that look just like this one, but I typically only stitch the top part.

I mounted the stitched piece onto some coordinating brown fabric, and then mounted that to an old rustic box that serves as a shelf sitter (there's no back to the box so it's perfect). It's edged with this awesome fall twist cord I found at Hobby Lobby (it was like it was made for this piece), and then I added some ribbons, fall picks and a cover button at the top for decoration.

Fall Owl Tin Sign

Hello Friends!

Back with a finish that just left my table -- and I just love it! This cute  little owl is part of a Prairie Schooler design that I stitched on hand-dyed evenweave. It's a mix of blue and a little grey and I really like how it makes the threads pop.

The owl design was matted to two different coordinating fabrics and then mounted to this tin sign that has a bronzed glaze on it. I edged the stitching with some brown cording and then added a few small twigs with berries, and then last but not least, a ribbon bow with cover button center. Super cute piece for fall!

Busy Busy Busy!

Hello Friends!

After a week of hunkering down inside the studio, I'm coming up for some air! The weather here in Phoenix has changed drastically since my last post. It seems we went from 110 to 80 in days, with a bunch of rain in between. (I thought it didn't rain here??)

This time of year is always when I'm frantically busy with orders flowing in left and right from customers prepping for Christmas, but I promised myself that I would actually take some time to enjoy the gorgeous weather and that starts with going to see the Arizona Coyotes home opener tonight. We have a bunch of fall festivals and art shows I'm looking forward to in the next few weeks, too!

I started this week making 50 of these cute Halloween gift tags for Peggy how is using them to put on favors for her Halloween party.

Then I stitched up and finished another one of these Be Jolly tart ornaments. I have never had a customer tell me they had something in their cart when someone else purchased it, so I felt the need to make another one for her.

Then I took a break from stitching and finished up a custom order for beaded scissor fobs for Linda.

And the last thing to leave the studio? These lovelies stitched by Robin.

I do a lot of custom work for people and I really do enjoy it all, but Robin has a very similar taste to my own personal taste when it comes to stitching, so I am really enjoying finishing her stitching.

A Couple of Fall Finishes

Hello Friends!

This week I spent a ton of time in my studio mostly organizing (and re-organizing) my stash as I bunker down for Christmas. Did you realize it's only 82 days away? Because I sure didn't!

In the meantime I finished what is probably the last of my shelf-sitter pumpkins for the season. I love making these every year but after making 8 of them, I think I'm good.

I also stitched up this fall design from Jardin Prive and decided to finish it in a hanging tart. The pattern comes with a seasonal set of four patterns but I obviously just chose to stitch the fall one. I love that little owl.
