Farm Fresh

Hello Friends!

I just finished this adorable rustic ornament featuring the Hands on Design freebie, "Farm Fresh."

The stitched piece is mounted directly onto a wood cutout that has been dry-brushed and weathered brown into white so it has that great farmhouse/rustic feel that I'm loving right now. I went back and forth on this stitched piece as I had many other options, but I kept going back to this type of FFO. I thought it would make a really cute ornament, and it did!

Since the piece itself was on the small side, I opted out of backing fabric but instead finished it off with a red and white gingham bow. Then, to pull out that teal in the pattern, I made a cute little cover button and popped it in the center.

The ornament hangs from a twine rope. So cute!

Summer Time!

Hello Friends!

Today I'm featuring this new "Summer" FFO featuring one of the patterns in Lizzie Kate's Summer Smalls. It was a quick, fun stitch that sat on my finishing desk for weeks while I figured out what to do with it.

I ultimately decided to use a simple wood pallet that I painted and dry-brushed antique white. My favorite thing about this FFO is definitely that backing fabric. On a shopping trip a few months ago, I randomly a package of K&Co's adhesive fabric samples and I had been dying to try them ever since. I've worked with K&Co for years and never heard of this product, and my recent Google searches have proven this may have been a test product some years back because its as though it never existed.  The package came with four different pattern samples, with one of them being perfect for this stitch.  Now that I've used it, I really wish I could find more because it made finishing this piece so much easier!

The stitched piece is mounted to the coordinating K&Co fabric, and then both are mounted to the wood pallet. White cording edges the stitched piece and then I added a small white bow with a floral center. Super cute finish for the summer!

Sweet Honeybee

Hello Friends!

This latest finish features an adorable honeybee frame I found at a local shop and embellished with a really cute bee-themed design from Bent Creek.

I didn't want to take away from the cuteness of the frame, so I knew the stitched design had to be on the smaller side. To do this, I had to shave off some of the charted design on either side of the bee and totally change the colors.

The stitched piece is mounted on some matchy-matchy blue and gold cotton fabric and then it's edged with some really pretty cording I had in my stash. To add a pop of color, I added the small blue flower to the corner. I just love it!

Stars and Stripes Box

Hello Friends!

The patriotic finishes keep coming! Today I finished Stars and Stripes design into a box top.  I liked that the box had a primitive look and feel to it already and I just lucked out on the colors coordinating well.

The stitched piece is mounted to some patriotic fabric I had in my stash.  I went back and forth on whether or not it needed "more" but I really don't want to take away from the design so I think I'll stick with it for awhile.

In other stitchy news, I finally got to visit Stitcher's Paradise in Vegas! My husband and I popped up to the Strip on Thursday and Friday for a quick visit and I was pleasantly surprised when Google Maps told me SP was soooo close to where I was staying.

The shop itself is smaller than the Attic (my LNS in AZ), but it was PACKED with supplies and beautifully stitched models. I could have spent hours just examining all of them. They were also running a storewide 15% off sale because its their 15th year anniversary, so I'm happy to announce I actually won on my Vegas trip! :)

Liberty and Justice Star

Hello Friends!

Today I finished up this small Liberty and Justice design from Little House Needleworks onto an American Flag star frame. I've finished it this way before, but changed a couple colors out this time.

The frame itself is made of an MDF material and hangs from a twisted cord. My favorite part is the metal star that's connected with a spring-type material.

Since the frame itself is very busy, I knew I wanted to stitch up a design that was small enough to stand on its own without coordinating fabric and this pattern worked perfectly!

Strawberries and Cream

Hello Friends!

I FINALLY finished my Strawberries and Cream piece from Stitchrovia. I absolutely love this piece. The colors, like all of Stitchrovia's patterns, are AMAZING. The only "problem" was that it was A LOT of block stitching, and after awhile, I got really sick of it. I think if I wasn't in such a time crunch to get this done for my strawberry-themed entry way, I would have stitched this over a few months and it would have been fine. Either way, it's done and I'm thrilled with it!

The stitched piece is mounted to some coordinating pink/red fabric background, and then I edged the aqua frame with white cording and added some wood leaves and red bows to the corners to mimic the strawberries in the corner of the stitched piece.

The strawberry-themed entry way is no where near done, but it's getting there. I need to add a few more pieces and change a few things around. I wanted it to stay with the strawberry theme that's going on in the June hutch but bring in some teal instead of more green.

Seaside Cottage

Hello Friends!

So Seaside Cottage is done and I must say I'm much happier with it now that it's finished than I was when I was stitching it. The funny thing is I WAS actually excited about stitching this when I first kitted it up. I really thought the blue fabric would pop against the white beachy frame (and it does).... but for some reason I could not get myself motivated to stitch this and it spent waaaaaaaay too long in my WIP pile.

I found this super cute beachy frame at a local shop, and I just roughed it up a bit to make it a little distressed. I chose to opt out of background fabric because I really liked that blue against the white but I DID add some twine to make it a little more nautical.

In non-stitchy news, I'm over the moon to report I found one of my Rae Dunn unicorn pieces! I desperately needed this piece (the three mini dishes and the large platter behind) for my August beach and watermelon theme so needless to say I made a mini scene in TJ Maxx this morning. :)

Happy June!

Hello Friends!

The June cottage has been FFOed and added to June's strawberries and ladybugs themed hutch. I pretty much plan a theme for each month around the design of the monthly cottage but I had absolutely no idea how hard it would be to find strawberries of all things! I finally found these cuties at Hobby Lobby in the floral section, and they're PERFECT!

The living room floral is a also on display.

The June monthly Flip-It from Lizzie Kate is done, but my tiered tray that it sits in, isn't. I'll be hitting HomeGoods today to fill in so that I can actually display this piece. But here's the FFO.

Since the pattern has more of a nautical theme, I'm going to have to try to find things that tie in with the strawberries and ladybugs without making it a beach theme --- wish me luck on that!
