Bless Our Home

One of my favorite patterns to stitch up, this Bless Our Home finished piece has gone through many varieties during the years. I've changed the color of just about every part -- including the house itself, and I've finally settled on this latest version.

Fabric Stash: Before and After

So I guess I didn't realize just how much fabric I had until the day I decided enough was enough and I'd have to somehow organize and inventory my stash. During the holiday season I had gotten into the habit of grabbing and throwing fabric into piles which makes me insane when it comes to finishing time. I knew I had to do something. Yikes!

I'm not going to post photos of what my "before" looked like because I'm too mortified, but -- this is what my fabric stash looks like now. Well, at least the majority of it. I have two more bins not shown in these photos.

I have tried many different solutions to my fabric situation, including hanging shoe racks, storage cubes, you name it. But my problem was always keeping my fabric organized. I wanted a place (preferably mobile) that I can see all of my fabrics at one time, but that didn't require a lot of effort putting the fabric back in place once I had used it. I'm pretty happy with the results.

I found these Artbin Super Satchel Cases at Joann's and thought they'd be perfect because of the separate compartments. The compartments are just the right size for fat quarters, and give you the opportunity to sort by color and/or pattern. They retail for $39.99 but I had a super-duper coupon that got them down to $16.99 which I was thrilled about. They're also available at Amazon (of course).

Thank You Card Messages and Sayings

We can all attest to the fact that a small bit of kindness can go a long way. So when someone buys you a gift, or offers you a little help with something, sending a thank you card (especially one that is hand-written) is a really simple but effective way to express your generosity towards that person's thoughtfulness.

Though thank you card messages do not need to be long, sometimes writing a simple "Thank You" just doesn't seem to be enough.

Here are some ideas for messages to write inside your thank you cards:

Simple Thanks

   Thanks for everything you do!

I am so grateful to you!

Thank you so much for your generosity.

I am so thankful to have a friend like you!

Thank you for being so kind.

Thank you so much for your kindness. You made my day!

Consider this note a small token of how grateful I am for your generosity.

Thank you so much for thinking of me!

Thank you for being so thoughtful and caring.

Thank You For Gift

Thank you so much for the (gift).
It was so generous and thoughtful and it meant so much!

I am so grateful for your generous gift! Your thoughtfulness is much appreciated!

Thank you so much for your gift! It meant so much!

Thank you so much for the most perfect gift!
I am grateful to have a friend who knows me so well!

Thank you for your generous gift. It made my day even more special!

Thank you for your beautiful gift. I can't thank you enough for your generosity.

Thank you so much for your gift. I'm so grateful for your love and support!

Happy Bark Mitzvah!

I have received many unique and creative requests over the years --  many of them leaving me asking myself, "Why didn't I think of that?!" but I have to say, I don't believe I've ever had a request for a custom greeting card that was quite as clever as this one!

Something tells me the recipient of this card is one spoiled dog!

On a separate but related note, my blog friend, Karen, has recently started a blog called Sending Paw Prints. If you are a card-maker, please visit her site and help if you can!

Sending Pawprints Mission
Sending Paw Prints supports our furry friends by collecting blank thank you pet themed handmade cards and donating them to animal shelters and rescue groups for them to write thank you messages to foster parents, donors and volunteers.

Animal shelters and rescue groups send hundreds of thank you cards to foster parents, donors and volunteers each month. Sending Paw Prints mission is to donate enough blank thank you pet themed handmade cards to animal shelters and rescue groups so they no longer need to purchase them and are able to send a heartfelt thank you message with a personal handcrafted card.
