Well Wishes Tree

Recently one of my closest friends, Deb got her Ph.D. and when my colleagues and I tried to figure out what to buy her for a gift, we quickly realized that with Deb being a a no-frills kind of gal, the best gift we can give her was one that came from the heart. Somehow between the four of us, we came up with a Well Wishes tree. It was purely a concept and I really didn't know how this was going to turn out, but we were all pretty happy with the result.

To make this tree, I went to the floral section at Michaels and picked out two large branches. Then I got a large terra cotta pot and placed a large foam ball inside of it, stuck the branches in, and filled the rest of the area with some moss (which I'm still finding in my kitchen). After that it was just a question of how I was going to make the little cards for us all to write sentiments on. I decided to cut 3x4" pieces of scrapbook paper and score them in the center to make little cards so the messages were a little more private. I corner-punched the ends for a little more detail, punched a whole in the top left corner, added some rubbon, and voila! The Well Wishes tree was a big hit.

It's Owl Good

I love my new little owl stamp. I especially love how it works with the "It's Owl Good" stamp I had laying around for years that I never thought I'd be able to use! My little owl is colored with Prismas in aqua and lime to pick up on the colors in my DCWV designer paper. I used my Martha Stewart scallop punch for the border, and my eyelet Nestabilities for the frame before adding the aqua rhinestones for the finishing touch.

Post-it Note Holders

Quite a busy weekend all ready but definitely very productive! Got some stuff done in the house (which included a trip to Lowe's to pick up 16 bags of mulch - yeah, that was fun), and did some crafting which included getting my order of 10 Post-it note holders out the door, woo hoo!

The request itself came from my my pink daisy holder. The customer wanted 8 holders to be the same or similar to this one, and then an additional 2 to be more masculine. I like to use cardstock when I'm creating these holders because the paper itself is a little more sturdy so I went with DCWV's "A Pocket Full of Posies" collection. It really accents the daisy embellishments, and some of the paper even has a little glitter and texture built in.

Here's the finished product. The hardest part was trying to figure out how to send 10 all at once - too big for bubble mailers, too small for some of the priority boxes. I ended up wrapping them all in tissue paper and adding a little cushion inside. :)

Pretty Little Flowers

Another non-stamped card for me, woo hoo! Unfortunately, it didn't take me any less time because I struggled forever with the placement of the flowers - the OCD came out with a vengeance on this one! The good thing is the paper itself was so pretty, it didn't seem to matter. Both the image and the sentiment were adhered with foam tape for dimension, although I'm not sure you can tell if you're looking at it dead on. I didn't intentionally mean for it to come out that way, but now that its done, I kinda like the 3-D look it created. The flowers were all hand-punched and attached with glue dots, although, like I said, it wasn't as easy as it looks. I added the small pearls in the center too because they needed a little more and voila! I'm ultimately pleased with the way it came out and have already received a custom order for another one (yay!), so I might be trying to tackle this one again. I'm curious to see if changing the paper makes the difference. We shall see...
