Facebook Friends

Because I work full-time, I try my best to come up with efficient ways to get my crafting in. Obviously being in my craft room is the obvious and most efficient way to go, but I do like to be with my family too, so, one of the things that works for me is to print out and/or stamp some images ahead of time and color them while I'm watching TV in the living room. In the beginning, I used to have to catalog my inventory of paper just so I wasn't blindly coloring images, but now that my paper obsession has grown into a full-fledged sickness, I have found that there aren't many images that I can't link to DP anymore... it's very sad, but I've somehow convinced myself that it makes my life easier to have a ton and a half of paper, thus furthering my addiction.

For this card, I had colored this digi from Mo's Digital Pencil a few months ago and had it laying around in a pile of colored digis I wasn't sure what to do with. Then, because I'm a paper-aholic as stated above, I recently went and bought a mega-paper stack from K&Co and low and behold the first three sheets matched this image PERFECTLY.  I had no sketch pre-determined going into it, I just kind of laid everything out based on where the best features of the DP were. Then I just Nestied up the image and sentiment, added a few rhinestones and voila! Nice and easy card. With the latest trending social media platforms, I think a lot of people can relate with this card -- although I'm one of the few hundred people in the world to not be on Facebook...

Free Digi Stamp - Bear

All Star Birthday & 21st

Quick post before I head off to work. I had a request come in from a grandmother who needed a 10th birthday card for her grandson, and a 21st birthday card for her granddaughter. The only information I was given was that the 10-year old really liked the Boston Red Sox (ugh), and the 21-year old liked girly things and the color teal. Let me just tell you how much easier the 21st birthday card was...

For the baseball fan, I created a very basic baseball design and used some very generic baseball embellies I had in my stash (they're from Jolee's I believe). Luckily they were blue and red -- luckily the Red Sox colors. Phew!

For the 21st birthday card, I used teal designer paper I grabbed from a few different companies, and just did some layering with it until I was happy with the result. I foam tape in between the daisies so it gave it more dimension.

Cu-pig - Stamps R Us Challenge #13

It's a new challenge at Stamps R Us and the theme is all animals. Sew Many Cards is sponsoring this challenge and offering a great prize, so make sure you go over and check it out.

For my card, I went with a non-digi stamp (gasp) and it actually encouraged me to use more of them rather than just having them take a bunch of space up in my craft room! This piggy stamp is called "Swine and Wine" and it's from Penny Black. I watercolored him because I wanted him to have a little splotchy (that is a word right?) but ultimately, I didn't really get the effect I was looking for, so I'll probably just Prisma him next time. The DP is some scraps I had in my stash along with some really cute daisy paper in my Pocket Full of Posies DCWV stack. The sentiment was created with alphabet stickers and a small heart punch while the large flower embellie was created with multiple punches. There's a lot of foam tape her (I'm obsessed) for some dimension.

Oh, and yeah, I don't know why I off-centered the pig... :)

Baby Girl Scrapbook

Finally got my baby girl premade scrapbook album custom order done, woo hoo! The request was made based on a previous baby girl scrapbook I had made.I was a little worried I wouldn't be able to come up with new ideas for the inside pages, but I got this new paper from K&Co. and I must say that everything just kind of fell into place just based on how insanely gorgeous this paper is.

This particular album has 12 coordinating inside-pages, with an intro page that includes baby stats. Because it was for a baby girl, I went over the top with pearls and flowers, and stuck to a strictly pink girly-girl theme. Fingers-crossed that the recipient likes it!

If you're a card-maker who hasn't scrapbooked yet, premades are a great way to start because you don't have to sift through thousands of your photos and they make really great, unique gifts. Give 'em a try!

Here are a few of the inside pages:

Brentwood's Birthday

I just love Jessica Lynn's Brentwood Owl stamps! Isn't he the cutest? For this card, I used some vibrant striped paper from DCWV to compliment Brentwood's party hat. Brentwood is colored with a combo of Prismas and chalks and is adhered to large scalloped circle Nesties. The paper flowers were stamped with more of the same paper and are adhered with foam tape. I varied the height of the foam tape s that the flower in the center of the trio is higher than the other two. Gives it a little more dimension. I added the lime green rhinestones just to give it a little more color.

This particular Brentwood stamp was digital, so I was able to add "Have a hoot!" on his banner with my PC. The sentiment is also PC-generated, and is adhered with a brad so that it acts as a hinge.

Wedding & Anniversary Cards

I decided to post two cards I had received special orders for; both with wedding and anniversary themes. I admit, I got a little "stuck" creatively with ideas so I basically ended up making the same card twice, but considering the occasions, I don't think it was necessarily a bad thing.

The first card I had made was for a 50th wedding anniversary so I knew it had to be gold. The request was for something elegant and fancy, so I didn't feel that one of my standard Prismacolored whimsical stamps would necessarily fit the bill so after searching through all of my stamps, I found this very simple flourishes stamp, and simply used some gold ink. Then I decided that it still looked too plain so I added the paper flowers. I was happy with the results but the bottom right corner needed "something." I had intended to just add a simple sentiment but then I realized I had an embellishment center (that I always forget to look in), and I had these silver wedding rings. After spending far too much time figuring out how to intertwine them, I was able to do so, and glued them with some small glue dots, adding the tiny ribbon.

For the second card, I went with a basic black and white theme and used wedding themed designer paper. Instead of the ribbon, I close to create a scalloped boarder with some silver paper and frame it with black. Other than that - same card. :)

New, Old Blog

Happy New Year everyone! I usually don’t make resolutions, but this year, I decided that I need to scale back on some things that are stressing me out, and make sure I’m doing the things that I enjoy and give me happiness. As a lot of you know, life in the craft blogging world has the tendency of getting out of control fast. There are so many groups and activities out there that we sometimes find ourselves over-extended. This happened to me once before and I ended up going 6 months without even entering my craft room once – and I refuse to let that happen again.

So… I’ve decided to start fresh with my main three responsibilities (well besides work of course!):

1.) My studio, hence the main reason I began blogging in the first place. Let’s face it, creating stuff just to create stuff really isn’t why we all do what we do. It’s to see the joy on the faces of others who receive the gifts we hand-craft. And heck, the extra money ain’t bad either. Therefore, I’m not letting this one go – although I vow to update my website more regularly, and begin using phrases such as “I’m sorry but I can’t possibly make 25 of those in one week.” :)

2.) This blog. I have found that I truly enjoy the blogging community and have cherished the blogging friends I have made this past year or so. However, I would like to branch out to include some of my other interests, finds, specials, daily deals and more, rather than just some random project I have finished or sold.

3.) Hubpages. I had no idea what Hubpages was until just 7 months ago, and it’s honestly one of the best things I’ve been asked to do.  Hubpages is an article-writing community and though it sounds a little intimidating, it’s actually not. I have made a significant amount of extra money through this site with just a few articles, and the best part of it is that unlike other article-writing communities that offer upfront minimal payouts per article, Hubpages articles will continue to make you money day after day. There are also no deadlines or requirements, so you are completely free to write whenever you’d like, about anything you’d like. (You can join Hubpages free by clicking here.)

I appreciate everyone’s comments throughout the past year and a half and I thank you all for inspiring me in more ways that I can imagine. Let’s all have a great new year!

(I'm still in the process of reconstructing this site so bear with me!)
