Creativity Rules!

Just mailed 12 copies of one of my favorite cards to a great group of girls I had the honor of meeting last month. I received such great feedback from this particular group who attended my session that I really wanted to thank them by making them each a card and really personalizing each one. What I didn't anticipate was how much work hand-coloring 12 of these cards at one time would be. Though it's still one of my favorite cards, I highly doubt I'll miss making another one in the near future!

Thank you all for your kind e-mails. And thanks for stopping by!

New Mixed Media Beaded Jewelry

Really excited that I was able to finish some new mixed media beaded necklaces for the shop. It's been a little while since I've been able to get some new inventory up and running. These beaded necklaces literally take hours (and sometimes days) to create, but the results are always worth it. There's a mixture of wood, clay, paper, gemstones and art beads in each and every one and no two are ever alike -- unless custom ordered of course!

Pumpkin Patch Wood Relief Carving

I'm excited to share something new today. A couple of years ago my dad realized he had this amazing talent of wood carving. Over the past year or so he's made some really amazing pieces and I've been begging him to start sharing them with people instead of just keeping them a secret in his studio -- and I finally won!

This is his "Pumpkin Patch in Moonlight" wood relief carving. It's made of bass wood and completely hand-carved and painted. Isn't that insane? When I first saw this piece and it's brilliant, vibrant-colored finish, I knew this couldn't just be another one of his creations that collected dust in his studio so I'm sharing it with you all now.

I really hope the photos do it justice because it's absolutely BEAUTIFUL in person!

Inside the Studio - Sneak Peek

I've been working hard this past month on finishing some new mixed media necklaces for the shop. I've been getting a lot of e-mails recently wondering if I would be making them again so I'm really happy I was able to get a bunch done.

I'm happy with how they came out but forgot just how much work they are!

I have just a few more custom order finishes and then I'll start listing. Enjoy your weekend!

Halloween Costumes for Dogs

Halloween is quickly approaching and I still don't have Cooper and Bentley's costumes locked down yet -- yes I'm one of those people. Last year, when Cooper was a baby, I had bought two costumes for him because I couldn't decide which one to go with. I assumed I could just use the leftover costume for this year. However, what I kind of forgot was that puppies GROW -- and Cooper definitely did some growing this past year.

What do you think? Too small? :) I love the fact that the tiger arms are not even close to touching the ground. He looks more like an orange and black spider than anything else. Poor thing...

For Bentley, I was going to recycle his cow costume. He kept falling asleep in it last year which I took to mean he was actually comfortable in it. And he doesn't seem to be giving me that "Please don't take my picture, I'm so embarrassed" face so I thought I was good to go. That was until I saw these...

Seriously, does it get any cuter than this? I found these costumes at Sew Dog Gone Creative, a shop dedicated to handmade dog costumes and I'm extremely tempted to get these for the boys. I'm even looking to recruit an R2D2, C3PO and a Chewbacca.

Others under consideration are:

What do you think? Any favorites?

I love Halloween, and I'm not sure why. Not that there's anything is wrong with Halloween. It's just that I didn't particularly grow up in a Hooray-it's-Halloween type of family. Although... when I really think about it, I'm not real big on dressing up in costumes... and my all-natural lifestyle doesn't really leave much room for artificially flavored candy... so I guess now that I think of it, maybe love is a strong word. I really like Halloween.. :)

Anyways -- I just finished the last of my Halloween designs for the year with this cute little basket and I'm desperately looking for reasons to keep it for myself.

The basket is 6 x 6 x 6 inches, perfect for the small Halloween sampler front. I'm not sure if you can tell by the photos, but the two small woven stripes are dark purple, which I thought added a little contrast to the rich colors in the sampler. I substituted just about every color the pattern called for - opting for rich, warm colors that complimented each other well -- and then threw in the lime green button for a little burst of more color. Overall, I'm pretty happy with how it came out.
