Do You Etsy?

I have recently acquainted myself with Etsy, and I am addicted!

Here's what I've found:

From a seller's point of view, I'm not quite sure how I feel. Because I have my own website that I get the majority of my custom orders and sales from, I keep running into an issue with the fact that you can't mark an item as sold at Etsy, you can only make it inactive, meaning I will ultimately keep losing $.20 when the item I list sells at Not a huge deal - but a bit of a pain in the you know what.

From a buyer's point of view though, I love every single thing there is to love. I'm a compulsive shopper to begin with, so this isn't really a stretch for me. I have found myself spending hours looking at all the different handmade items and I constantly find myself saying "people are just so talented!" If you haven't already, you really need to check it out and join me in the addiction!

As part of my new-found love for Etsy and all things handmade, I have decided to add a "Treasury Tuesday" feature to my blog to feature some of my Etsians and their uber-creative and fabulous items. If you're on Etsy and have items you would like me to feature, or think I should see, please leave comments or e-mail me directly. I'm always looking for new stuff!

My first treasury, of course, just had to have a Starry Nights theme right? ;)

Happy Easter!

I know it's late now, but I hope everyone had a really great Easter today. As for me, I spent the day at my parent's house enjoying a good ol' fashion Italian 14-course meal. At one point we were literally all moaning in the house from being so completely disgustingly bloated. :)

It was a very productive weekend for me. I rearranged my craft room, and by rearranged, I mean that at one point I couldn't see my floor. I really wish I would have taken pictures because those who know me best, would never believe I had my room looking like it did... but I really have wanted a designated area for just all of my inventory separate from everything else, and for once I finally have that so I'm thrilled! In a day or two I will be posting pictures of a greeting card rack my dad made for me. It's delish!

I also got the order for 30 note cards done (woo hoo!!) as well as the three cards. I will post the cards shortly - too tired tonight - but I'm posting the note cards as proof I got it done. At one point I thought I was going to cry, but I finished! Thanks to all of the supportive e-mails I got -- 30 really didn't seem like such a big number at the time...

Happy Easter!

Sending Happy Thoughts

Big, busy weekend for me. I have orders for 30 note cards and 3 greeting cards - all by Monday, and Sunday is Easter. Just a little stressed so I'm totally procrastinating by posting my new card. :)

The stamp is from Whipper Snapper Stamps and it's called "Luvbug". If I had all the money in the world, I would buy every single Whipper Snapper stamp available. I LOVE them all. The paper is some DCWV I had in my scrap box, and the flower I punched out of fabric and added a rhinestone middle. The sentiment is a clear acrylic stamp from a kit I got from my stamping buddy, Shelly

Okay, enough procrastinating. Off to work!

Thanks for all of the nice e-mails and guestbook entries I have received about Lisa. I was told they made her day. :)

Sedona Sunrise Mixed Media Necklace

The paper beads take me a good amount of time to make, but I still think they're one of the coolest things a paper crafter can make. The paper is wrapped tightly and then sealed with layers of non-toxic, high-gloss varnish and then left to dry for hours. Again, they're very time-consuming, but worth it, as the designs are endless. And unlike regular glass and gemstone beads, these beads are completely customizable. In fact, I've literally had people e-mail me a picture of them in a specific outfit and asked me to make something to match. And although they can probably stand on their own, I always add crystals or gemstones to them just to jazz them up a little.

Another question I always get is who the "model" is on my site. It's my "big sister" Lisa. Isn't she great?  We have the best time taking these pictures and always say we should do a behind-the-scenes blooper reel. I told her I need to write up a bio for her since she's so famous, but of course that will happen when I actually start updating the website as often as I should.... :)

Thanks again for all the great e-mails and entry forms on the site. I appreciate the love!

So Happy Together

I cannot believe the weekend is already over (sigh). I got 3 of my custom's done though so I'm feeling productive at least. I don't do it enough, but thank you all for your special requests and very kind e-mails. They make my day!!!!!

Okay, on to the card. I enjoyed making this new one simply because I don't tend to make many masculine cards -- not that this is the most masculine card I've ever made, but hey, it's a start. I hesitated to put it in my shop at all just based on the fact that this card was inspired by my father's very odd relationship with my parent's 3-pound teacup Yorkie... that's all I'm going to say about that. :)

I love my little paper fasteners from Quickutz. They add just a little something that's needed. The image is again from Mo's, and it's colored with Primas. It is adhered with foam tape for added dimension. I struggled with the sentiment until I realized "So happy together" was just perfect.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Spending the afternoon working on catching up on some orders but I wanted to quickly post this new card featuring a new digi from Mo's. She seems to be introducing new digis almost daily now and one keeps getting better than the next!  I used K&Company paper for the layering, and Primas for the coloring. She's propped up with some foam tape for added dimension.
Back to work!

Grilling Dad

Love my Big Guy Grilling stamp from Mo's. I noticed afterwards that I always tend to color him with the blue/brown combo so next time, I'm definitely mixing it up. He's colored with Prismas and chalks, although it's really starting to bug me that the distressed edges aren't showing up so well on my camera. I have to play with that setting... anyways, the paper is from My Mind's Eye, and the fasteners are from Quickutz. If you haven't checked them out already, you need to go to Cut @ Home. Holy cow I could not get over the deals. And the shipping is sooooo reasonable, too.

Off to blog hop. Thanks for stopping by!

Mommy to Be

So I made this card with my sister-in-law in mind and then remembered, after the card was made, that she absolutely HATES pink. Guess this is going up in my shop now. Oh well, lol.

I really like the pink and green combo I got by using some of my My Mind's Eye papers. I was a little worried about adding the chocolate brown but ended up getting a little bit of a contemporary look going on so I'm good with it. I used my Prismas to color the image and then distressed the edges with a little sage. The flowers were created using my 300 pound original Sizzix. :)

Weekend's over, back to work. Ugh!

Dance to Your Own Music

UConn men are playing tonight in their Final Four game so I'm making this post really quick before my company gets here. I just love the Mummu collection at Mo's Digital Pencil. She is such a joy to color! The DP is from K&Company (still in love with it). I've really gotten into the layered look this year - I think it's due to the fact that I have trouble saying "no" to paper, so it's easier to just keep going with it. I recently bought an acrylic stamp set of sentiments from Inkadinkado which really came in handy for this one. The set is called "Thoughts for the Day."

Hope everyone's having a great weekend!
