Hello July!

Hello Friends!
I started my July decorating upstairs as I've recently finished some new patriotic pieces.

I worked on my tiered tray first as it always seems to give me the biggest problem and chose to make Barbara Ana's "Freedom" piece the focal point. "Freedom" is matted with coordinating fabric and mounted (with magnets) to the front of a white-washed box I found at Michaels awhile back. The tray also has a USA-themed galvanized standup I found at Kirklands, a wood star trio I found at a thrift store last year in KC, some mason jars, and patriotic picks, flowers and flags.

I was able to stitch up this patriotic house found in the Sweet Land of Liberty book by Blackbird Designs, and when I found the blue wooden standup at Michaels, I knew they had to go together.

I also was able to finish Freedom House by Little House Needleworks, a piece I've admired for years so I knew I wanted that to be front and center. It's matted with some fabric and mounted (again with magnets) to the front of this stand-up square frame I found at Kirklands this year. For height, I flipped over a galvanized box for it to sit up, and placed it in this blue weathered tray I also found at Kirklands.

Stars and Stripes from Little House Needleworks was stitched on 36 ct to make it tiny enough to sit atop this small grey pedestal I found at Michaels to off-set the flag-themed metal vase I placed on the other side.

Summer Finishing

Hello Friends!

June is flying by and with the Fourth of July just around the corner, I've been working on getting the last of my strawberries and watermelons vignettes done so I can finish up some patriotic stitches I have for my July displays.

I started with this small "Berries" pattern that's part of Lizzie Kate's Summer Smalls collection. I finished it by mounting the stitching to this teal strawberry container I found while thrifting. All I did was edge it with some handmade cording and I added a bow with a small daisy button center.

Upstairs, I was able to get the "Summer "portion of  Lizzie Kate's Summer Smalls stitched up for my chalkboard piece, as well as Summer ABCs by Little House Needleworks.

Both the chalkboard easel and the white-washed shutter came from Michaels and I use washers and magnets on the back so I can change them out for the seasons.

This freebie chart by Barbara Ana is one of my favorites of all time and I'm so happy that this year I got to stitch one for myself to add to my tiered tray. I even put it out a little earlier because I just love it so much. (To get this chart, you need to join or be part of the Star Spangled Stitchers group on Facebook.)

For my shop, I had a couple of summer/patriotic finishes as well starting with Summer Round from Hands on Design's "Well Rounded Perennial Pinwheels." I finished this piece as a mounted easel with some blue and white polka dot fabric.

I also finished this "Let Freedom Ring" fancy flat that came from Man Di Donna's "Sounds of Freedom" series....

...as well as Little House Needleworks "Stars and Stripes" that I finished as this block wall hanging.

For client finishes, I definitely had quite the variety of charts and finishes.

Strawberries and Stripes

Hello Friends!

I finished Strawberries and Stripes by With Thy Needle and Thread into this galvanized tin front and I absolutely love it.

I finished the piece as a circular flat before mounting it to the front of this tin I found at Hobby Lobby. I made some cording out of white DMC to edge the design and then just jazzed it up a bit with some ribbon and a floral center. I just love how it came out!

Hello June!

Hello Friends!

I put the finishing touches on the dining room hutch today in my strawberries and ladybugs June theme. My focus now moves to the strawberries and watermelons vignette in the front hallway as well as my summer/patriotic vignette upstairs. We'll see how far I get as it's been a challenge to find missing pieces in shops during this pandemic.

As always, my Country Cottage Needleworks "Cottage of the Month" series sets the tone for color and theme so as you can see, it's a red, green and white strawberries and ladybugs vignette.

I use magnets on my Cottages of the Month so that I can switch them out easily each month without having to finish each one and store it separately. It really makes life so much easier.

The newest stitched edition is June Truckin' Along by Priscilla and Chelsea of Stitching with the Housewives. Though the pattern is a chalk-theme (stitch on black with a lot of white accents), I switched it up to make it fit in with my decor. I can't even tell you how many green flosses I went through until I found a color for the truck that matched my decor without looking completely out of place. (It's Guacamole by Weeks Dye Works if you're interested.)

In other news, I have been SWAMPED with my finishing service as it seems many stitchers spent the quarantine completing projects. Slowly but surely I'm making my way through the pile!
