Birthday Jackpot

There are a few times when I receive a special request for a card and I instantly feel nervous that I won't be able to pull it off. They're either vague in their description, or they ask for an image or theme I don't have and it makes my stomach drop that I won't be able to give them what they're asking for. Then there are the cards that just completely fall into place and this is one of them. I received a special request for someone who loved the casino and especially loved playing the penny slots. I had recently found this great casino paper and did a quick search for some digital casino clip art, and everything just happened.

I colored the slot machine with my Prismas before matting it to a scalloped circle and adhering it with foam tape. I used a plain black ribbon to separate the green DP from the casino themed DP and then added a sentiment with a single brad so that it moves. For the inside, I added "Hope your birthday hits the jackpot!" and called it a day. If they could all be this easy... :)

Holiday Penguin

I'm hosting the Embellishment Challenge over at CDAC and decided to go with a "Glitz and Bling" theme. Check it out if you get a chance. The winner will win three free digi stamps.

I love this black and white paper. It's definitely one of my all-time favs because you can use it so many different ways, and really, what better than when you're making a penguin card!  I colored the penguin with Prismas and then matted him with some scalloped Nestablities before adhering him with foam tape. The snowflake was a diecut I had which reminded me yet again that I don't have a snowflake punch and desperately need one. I glittered the edges with some Stickles for the "glitz" and then added the rhinestones for the "bling." The sentiment was from a foam stamp I've had for years and never used, and though you can't tell, the blue border is actually a ribbon.

Pine Needles Everywhere

Just finished filling the last of my Christmas tree and wreaths orders (I hope at least). I really enjoy making them, and I really love the fact that people still ask me for them each year, but I have to admit, there comes a point when my hands are literally raw from the wire and pine needles and I'm just "done" with the whole thing.

A few people have e-mailed me for pictures of what some of them look like so I took a picture of the last three of them before they get shipped to their homes. Sorry for the bad pictures, but like I said, I'm just really done with this. :)

Santa at the Beach

For the next two weeks, the ladies of Stamps R Us are challenging everyone to show us their "Anything Goes" projects, and because our challenge is being co-sponsored by StampitCrazy and Bonibleaux Designs, I just had to use this adorable digi "Santi Beaches" from Bonibleaux.

I tend to make and sell a lot of holiday trees and wreaths around this time, so I think because I've been so busy doing that, plus finishing up my holiday shopping, I haven't been feeling like making cards recently, let alone holiday cards, so this was the perfect card to kind of get me back in the swing of things. I embrace the non-traditional cards because you really can get creative with them so this was a lot of fun. The paper is from Stampin Up and I just love how it all coordinates in a tropical theme. The digi is colored with Prismas and inked at the edges, and there's a lot of dimension you may or may not be able to see.

I hope you all join us at Stamps R Us sometime in the next two weeks!

Santa & Rudolph

This card was a custom order that I'm really considering making more of just for ME! I love this image from Sassy Cheryl's so much - it's just adorable! I wasn't sure what to put on the inside, so I just used "Have yourself a merry little Christmas," but I'm thinking for my next set, I'll have to come up with something more clever. The image is colored with Prismas and chalks and then inked at the edges with more chalks. Icicle stickles was used for the snow. I went with a very, very simple layout on this one just because the image is just too darn cute!
