Snowmen Trio

Hello Friends!

Today I put the finishing touches on this cute snowmen trio!

I have to admit this turned out totally different from how I originally planned, but I love it. When I was going through my stash, I stumbled across this frame that I thought would work perfectly, so I changed things up and framed it instead.

The stitched piece is matted with my favorite primitive black and tan homespun fabric and then mounted to the frame. I used flocked branches for the top, a bow and a snowflake for embellishments and called it a finish!

Hello Friends!

Just finished up this snowman mitten box. These boxes are some of my favorites to finish each year.

I stitched up the mittens and matted them with some black and tan homespun fabric and then mounted that piece to the top of this primitive snowman box. The stitched piece is edged with some twine and embellished with a piece of garland and snowflake center.

Happy November!

Happy November Friends!

The November cottage of the month is done and in the fall-themed hutch!

I pretty much substituted every color in this pattern to fit my decor. Like all other cottages of the month, it's matted to some green floral backing and mounted to the front of my standard white frame with magnets.

STITCHY DETAILS:

Pattern: Cottage of the Month - November
Designer: Country Cottage Needleworks
Cottage Of The Month November - Cross Stitch Pattern
Fabric: 28 ct tea dyed evenweave
Colors:
Classic Colorworks - Cherry Cobbler, Pea Pod,
Autumn Spice, Ye Olde Gold; Weeks - Mocha; DMC - 437, White

Today I work on taking down the Halloween decor and replacing it with more leaves, pumpkins and apples. The good thing about the transition is that it doesn't take much work. In fact, nearly all my decor from October is staying, minus the Halloween-specific pieces.

Unfortunately, the transition does include the removal of my Halloween Rules tombstone that I love so much. I will miss this piece so much until next year, but it only makes me want to finish the Christmas Rules that much more!

Rustic Snowman Box

Hello Friends!

I just finished up this really cute snowman decorative box using a pattern from a company I've never stitched any patterns from before -- The Woolly Ewe. I love The Woolly Ewe's designs because they have a rustic look and feel to them. Plus they are available in digital dowload which makes it really easy to stitch up while using my tablet. I'm definitely going to be stitching more from this shop. Highly recommend! Check it The Woolly Ewe's shop here: The Woolly Ewe

For this piece, I simply mounted the stitching onto some coordinating homespun fabric, and then mounted both of those to the top of this snowman box. The pattern itself is so pretty, I decided against any embellishments, bows, picks, etc. I think it can stand on its own.

Halloween in a Crate

Hello Friends!

Just got back to our quick trip to Kansas City (we are Chiefs season ticket holders living in Phoenix, originally from CT -- wrap your head around that one!) and I immediately went into my studio to FFO this cute pattern I stitched up last week from Tralala.

It was the absolute perfect size when I finished it flat, so it was almost like it was meant to go on this small gray crate I've had. The only thing I had to do was add gray felt to the back just to finish it off but other than that, this was a pretty easy finish and I just love it!

SIlent Night

Hello Friends!
I just love this pattern from Little House Needleworks. And the funny part is that I accidentally attained this pattern because I was trying to order Silent Night from Country Cottage Needleworks, and misclicked. Now it's one of my winter favorites!

I stitched this up last year as part of a hanging frame. I really liked the way this one had come out too with the homespun background fabric and the little pine cones.

This year, I used a small wood pallet that hangs on a twine cord. I mounted the stitched piece on some of the same homespun fabric I used last year and then added the snow-covered branches and one of those little pine cones.

Happy Fall!

Hello Friends!

It's been busy in the studio these past few weeks. This time of year always seems to sneak up on me but I'm doing my best to manage Halloween, Fall and Christmas as best as I can -- even though it's still breaking 100 here in Phoenix!

In preparation for fall -- even if I don't have my New England leaves this year -- I started bringing out the apples, pumpkins and scarecrows, starting with my September Cottage of the Month.

STITCHY DETAILS:

Pattern: September Cottage of the Month
Designer: Country Cottage Needleworks

Then I FFOed my Prairie Schooler rooster into a small rustic whitewashed box.

It's mounted to the front and edged with some blue cording. Then I just added a red and white gingham box with a blue floral center. I'm not the biggest fan of stitching on black, but I do like the farmhouse look it gives to stitching so I'm glad I did it.

STITCHY DETAILS:

Pattern: Signs of Spring (rooster)
Designer: Prairie Schooler

I also made a ton of custom order Halloween gift tags and then FFOed some items for my stitchy friend Robin.

I find it very hard to send her items back to her --- especially the "Birdhouse" ornament. The color fabric she chose compliments her stitching perfectly.

Beach Easel

Hello Friends!

Just finished up this cute beach-themed easel with a Lizzie Kate sampler!

I've had this wood pallet easel in my possession for awhile, waiting for the perfect piece. The white-wash on the easel made me think "beach" so it felt like the perfect design for it.

The stitched piece is mounted to some teal coordinating fabric and edged with green cording. A small white bow with orange cover button completes the piece.

Pie Menu

Hello Friends!

I stitched up this Pie Menu pattern a while ago and knew exactly how I wanted it finished, but didn't have all of the parts in order to execute my plan. And then I found this perfectly sized rolling pin and it all came together!

First I mounted the stitched piece to some red and white gingham to match the tablecloth in the pattern. The secret to this was making sure the gingham was the correct size to be able to add a hanger that fits the dimensions of the rolling pin. It doesn't seem like it'd be that hard, but I spent more than enough time (and bad words) getting it right.

The rolling pin was originally oak-stained with bright red handles. I wanted to tone it down a bit, so I whitewashed the rolling pin itself, and then roughed up the handles to make them look a little vintage. I added a sawtooth hanger to the back of the rolling pin so that it can be hung. Then I just have to fit the loops around the rolling pin and it hangs nicely. Just love it!

Kindness Tray

Hi Friends!

Today I finished up this Act of Kindness piece into a tray top and it came out super cute!

I had this folk art tray for awhile now while I waited for the perfect piece. The dimensions on this pattern were perfect so I made some color changes that would match the painted design on the tray.

The stitched piece is mounted to the front of the tray and edged with some coordinating twist cord I made. Then I added a pink ribbon bow, a small, green ribbon now and finished it with a pink flower center.

STITCHY DETAILS:

Pattern: Inspirational Boxer #B50 No Act of Kindness
Designer: Lizzie Kate
Colors Used: 926, 930, 3722, 3781, 3790, 3012, 434, 469, White

Beachy Keen!

Hello Friends!

Today I finished up this beachy wall hanging!

The wood pallet is made of two slats attached in the back. The pallet was originally a dark brown, but I white-washed it to make it look more beachy. Even though it has a twine cord attached so that it can be hung on a wall, I think it would look just as cute as a shelf sitter.

The stitched piece was mounted to some aqua bubble fabric and then both were attached to the pallet. I used some white cording to edge the stitching to give it a pop of white. Then I added a twine bow with a double coverbutton center.

Stars and Stripes Box

Hello Friends!

The patriotic finishes keep coming! Today I finished Stars and Stripes design into a box top.  I liked that the box had a primitive look and feel to it already and I just lucked out on the colors coordinating well.

The stitched piece is mounted to some patriotic fabric I had in my stash.  I went back and forth on whether or not it needed "more" but I really don't want to take away from the design so I think I'll stick with it for awhile.

STITCHY DETAILS:

In other stitchy news, I finally got to visit Stitcher's Paradise in Vegas! My husband and I popped up to the Strip on Thursday and Friday for a quick visit and I was pleasantly surprised when Google Maps told me SP was soooo close to where I was staying.

The shop itself is smaller than the Attic (my LNS in AZ), but it was PACKED with supplies and beautifully stitched models. I could have spent hours just examining all of them. They were also running a storewide 15% off sale because its their 15th year anniversary, so I'm happy to announce I actually won on my Vegas trip! :)
