Featured Shop: Creative Wishes

Hi everyone!

Today I'm featuring Creative Wishes, a shop dedicated to handmade toys for creative play. I came across shop owner Mel's Etsy shop and blog and thought it was truly unique and I know you will too!

At Creative Wishes, it is all about children using their imaginations and having fun through play. Creative Wishes became a means of working from home for Mel when her youngest child started school. Mel's focus is on making her toys bright and engaging, interactive, and most importantly safe. All of her toys are road-tested on her own children first to ensure they pass the "fun and safety test."

Here is a sampling of a few items Creative Wishes offers:

Love Letter

Hi everyone!

Lately, my boyfriend and I have taken up playing board games together a few times each week. We typically will go into our designated gaming space away from any distractions and will play for an hour or two after dinner (as Bentley and Cooper run, chase, and wrestle around us). Sometimes, life can get really crazy and between work, doing normal day-to-day routines and for me personally, trying to find time to manage my small business, it's nice to have a few hours a week to spend not doing much heavy thinking.

We haven't been playing your average board games -- Scrabble, Monopoly, Life, etc -- but have found enjoyment in finding "niche" games at a local store in town. Our collection has grown to about six favorites, with our latest being "Tempest: Love Letter."

I have to admit that when my 32-year old boyfriend first told me about it, I had to question where on earth he would have possibly heard of a game that by name alone sounds like something my 6-year old niece would play with her friends, but, being the fabulous girlfriend that I am, I decided to trust him and give it a chance.

Love Letter is a game that 2-4 players can play, and only takes about 20 minutes or so to finish. The game happens in rounds, with the goal being to get your love letter into Princess Annette's hands while eliminating other suitors. Much of the game actually reminds me of something like "Go Fish", and is very light-hearted and fun. If you're looking for something new to try with your friends or your children, give it a try!

Inside the Studio - Halloween and Thanksgiving

I've been really feeling the pressure to get some new pieces done in time for Halloween and Thanksgiving. The hard part of the process is finding extra time to create "new" pieces while still completing custom requests which can be REALLY difficult at times so I'm really happy that this week, I was able to get a few pieces stitched up.

This is my "needs to be finished/tweaked" table right now. This week will be dedicated to doing just that!

Home is Where Our Story Begins

Today I'm featuring my finished Home is Where Our Story Begins piece.

When I first purchased the double-hinged photo frame, my initial reaction was to cross-stitch both sides. I looked through my patterns -- which took forever -- but was never happy with finding the perfect combination. And then it hit me. I didn't HAVE to have a design in each side.

Once I realized I could leave the right side blank for actual photos, I decided to go with a family-theme, opting for this "Home is Where Our Story Begins" pattern by Lizzie Kate.

The Boys

Hi everyone!

I'm working really hard to finish up a lot of projects and get them out of the door this week, but I just had to post this video of my two dogs, Cooper and Bentley. As many of you know, Cooper is our new little addition we bought for our other dog, Bentley -- which I believe officially makes us crazy dog people. But nonetheless, the two boys (half-brothers) absolutely love each other so I couldn't be happier with the decision.

I decided to post one of my favorite most recent videos of Cooper eating Bentley. Poor Bentley's just trying to take a nap but I guess that's what little brothers are supposed to do! :)
